vice vs. virtue

Post  jmp1211 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:57 pm

I think our culture has turned patience into something for people who don't want to get anything done. Everything is wanted yesterday and it needs to be cheap and fast. The vice that has turned into a virtue is greed, people are now glorified for wanting everything without doing anything. JP period 8.

I think our culture took chastity as a virtue and turned it into a vice. people think it's ok to have sex outside of marriage because our culture made it seem ok.

Virtue and Vice

Post  XoSeLeNa2Xo on Mon Oct 06, 2008 9:32 pm

Our culture has taken the virtue of modesty and chastity and turned it into the vice of lust. Saying that to not be chaste is good thing and its ok. Our culture has taken the vice of greed and turned it into a virtue of generosity by giving to the poor and helping those in need.

An example of how our culture has turned a virtue into a vice is with premarital sex. Our culture has taught us that premarital sex is ok. It's done this through what we watch, read, and hear in today's society. Society has not realized that this is wrong and that it demorilizes human dignity. Fortunatley, those who realized their wrong doing can turn to Christ and be pure through what is called "secondary virginity". Through this, we can devote our life to the right "one" and only one person AFTER going through the sacred bond of MARRIAGE.

Our culture has taken the virtue of chastity and turned it into a vice by telling young people that its okay to have sex before marriage. But really they should be teaching us that you should save yourself for the one person you will marry.

Our culture has turned modesty into a vice, it is now a bad thing to be modest, everyone wants to wear almost nothing. Gluttony is now a virture in a way because everyone wants to be collective and wants anything they can get there hands on.

virtues and vices

Our culture has taken anger with the war and turned it into patience by trying to pull the troops out of the war. And then our culture has taken chastity and turned it into lust with all the pornography sites and other things that degrade women.

Our culture has turned the vice Lust and basically said it was okay to have sex prematrially. Our culture has turned generosity to a vice because now a days it is all about me. If someone gives something to someone i believed it is frowned upon these days.

Our culture has taken the virtue of gratitude and joy and turned it into a vice of envy and hatred. It is telling people that it is ok to speak badly about others accomplishments, rather than be proud of their hard work. Our culture is also, taking the vice of lust and saying how chastity is not a smart choice. It is saying that it is ok to have sex with anyone rather than waiting for that one special person you will marry.

VIRTUE or VICE

Post  pmart124@aol.com on Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:55 pm

In my own opinion,i think our culture has taken almost all of the virtues and pretty much said....yea these are pretty cool. For example, in some families there are kids who are very spoiled and are used to getting everything little thing they want or every ask for. yet in other parts of the world there are people who can't even afford food,or water. when you think about it, everyone deserves to have the very basics or is entitled to them, just for being a human being. i believe i read that in the bible somewhere but can not remember where....anyway not important right now. other HARD issues such as sex before marriage and abortion. Our culture is too used to have these at their fingertips. In my opinion, which doesnt seem to matter too much because im wrong on moral issues...go figure, i think if you want to have sex or you choose to have sex before you are married then GO ahead. NO one is gonna follow you your hole life and hold your hand and say, no dont do that or yes do that, the only thing standing in between you and YOUR OWN choices are youself. Anyway since my opinion doesnt matter because im always wrong and will never be right on moral issues then i will wrap it up saying that. thank you and have a GOD filled day. your brother in christ, PROPHET PAT, MARTINEZ

Vice and Virtue

Post  wgmh128 on Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:56 pm

Society has managed to convince us that the vice of lust is a virtue, and that its okay to have premarital sex and people basing their entire marriage on this vice. The virtue that is often made into a vice is humility, many people could care less about belitting yourself to help another person. Instead their pride blinds them and allows them not to care about anyone but themselves.

In our world today the virtue of chastity means nothing to our culture. We dont value the meaning of it, and we dont fully understand that we are suppost to be chaste until marriage. We have turned lust into something more important than love. When you should be waiting for marriage and the one you really love.
