It is important to live a virtuous life because we want to make ourselves ready for God. Our life can be taken at any moment, and without trying to live a good life, we might not be given what we want. It also has an effect on friends. If we live a good life, other my try to live one too because we maybe an influence on our friends. So if we follow God and do all we can do to live a virtuous life, then we should be fine.
